The beautiful planet

Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better – Albert Einstein.

In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks – John Muir

Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you. – Frank Lloyd Wright

Every time I find myself down the black hole which is depression, being out in nature and seeing so much wonder in the world makes me feel like it is worth the pain.

The animals, birds, insects, trees, plants… they are all magical. The sea, serene lakes and trickling waterfalls. Nature is incredible, and so is the planet. And so it breaks my heart to know that we are destroying it.

I try, but I know I have a long way to go. I’m going to share some of the things I’ve found which help me reduce my waste or protect the environment, I’m going to do some more posts in the future so if you have any great tips please do send them to me!

I made the change to bamboo toothbrushes years ago and I do feel so much less guilty about using unnecessary plastic – they do exactly the same job.

I also bought these bamboo kitchen towels. It came in a roll and it lasted me over a year, it probably would have lasted longer if I hadn’t moved country and used them deep cleaning before I left. They seem expensive but for how many uses you get, you save a ton of money than using disposables.

I’ve recently written a blog post about this children’s book; it highlights the importance of looking after the environment. You can read my blog here.

Public transport – I know this is easier said than done because public transport can be a nightmare in rural places in the UK, but if you can use public transport it’s so much better for the environment – and there’s always the bicycle if it’s somewhere close!

Being mindful of the environment and the world around you is so important and my book Mindful Millie is a great way to teach children to appreciate and enjoy nature.
